The Cromlix Hotel in Dunblane, owned by tennis icon Andy Murray and his wife Kim, clinched the coveted title of Independent Hotel of the Year at the Scottish Excellence Awards.
Adding to the accolades, Executive Head Chef Darin Campbell secured the Chef of the Year award for the second time, solidifying the 5-star venue’s position as a leader in hospitality excellence.
The awards, which were presented last week at a black-tie awards ceremony at the Sheraton Grand Hotel and Spa in Edinburgh, represent “the ultimate accolade for businesses and individuals working in Scottish hospitality, and food service”.
We were amongst the suppliers who helped to refurbish the hotel’s Glasshouse Restaurant, designed by Garuda, ahead of its reopening in March 2023. The restaurant is housed in a beautiful botanical glass-walled conservatory overlooking the gardens, and offers diners a ringside view of the chefs at work in the extensive open kitchen.
Executive head chef, Darin Campbell, spoke with The Scotsman ahead of the reopening and was most excited about the green elements being introduced to compliment the restaurant’s charming surroundings: “That space was quite plain before, but because you’re looking out of the windows onto the gardens and the grounds, they’re working on bringing the outside into the house and making it nature-inspired. It’s safe to say that the predominant colour will be green.”
The Scottish Excellence Awards welcome entries from hospitality establishments across Scotland, including hotels, restaurants, bars, exhibition centres, and tourist attractions. In partnership with Caterer.com, the awards celebrate the individuals, products, services, and organisations that exemplify excellence and innovation throughout Scotland’s hospitality industry.
