Archerfield Walled Garden, East Lothian

Archerfield Walled Garden, located in Dirleton, East Lothian, is a charming and tranquil destination that combines horticultural beauty with family-friendly attractions. Originally established in the 18th century to supply produce to the neighbouring Archerfield House, the garden has been lovingly restored and reimagined as a modern visitor experience with a timeless feel. Today, it features a range of themed areas designed for year-round interest — from perennial meadows and a traditional potager to a stumpery and wildlife pond.

At the heart of the garden is the Garden Café, a relaxed and welcoming space where visitors can enjoy seasonal dishes crafted using fresh ingredients grown onsite. The café places a strong emphasis on sustainability and local sourcing, aligning perfectly with the garden’s ethos and connection to nature.

As part of its refurbishment, our creative team was invited to help bring the café’s interiors to life. We designed and installed a custom green wall featuring Archerfield’s distinctive deer logo illuminated in soft lighting, creating an eye-catching centrepiece that blends natural textures with brand storytelling. Overhead, we introduced foliage across the ceiling, enhancing the immersive garden feel, while barrier planters help to subtly define the space and maintain flow for both staff and guests.

This playful garden theme is echoed throughout the interior, with rattan lampshades, warm timber finishes, and whimsical touches like a curated display of mini watering cans. The result is a space that feels both rooted in the land and inviting to modern visitors.
